huh? Wut does mentioning "Naruto style" have anything to do with me needing to grow up? Because kids watch it? I merely referenced that show to make a point that Anet is aware of the Assassin profession being associated with ninjas.

FYI Naruto isn't the only show to sport those types of headbands. "Basilisk: Koga Ninpo Chou" had them, "Ninja Sentai Kakuranger" had them, and so do other shows... Perhaps mentioning those instead of the "classic old shit" that is Naruto would be better?

Am I the only one who thinks that the Assasin armor with the blades on the side looks like the Tormentors 15k armor?

:\

You're not the only one. I think its the protruding blades that are doing the trick... Taking those blades off the Saboteur's armor would make it look better IMO.

Ninja pajamas are just for ninjas not assassins. The assassins inflatrator armor is the bomb. All the ritualist armor totaly rocks

I never said assassins are Ninjas, but it'd be nice to have a few different veriations example..

Warriors can look like a bunch of different kinds of warriors if you get my drift.
Ascalon armor - Barbarian
Knights/Plate armors - Knight
Gladiator armor - Gladiator (Of course)

Armors should fit themes, the ranger and ele armor fits elements, the mesmer armor has a combinitation of ritzy, seductive, and all that stuff. So why can't assassins? Right now they all look the same, and yes it looks very futuristic, kinda like body armor. I like the beginner armor the assassins have (Visible when you're choosing gender) Simple and clean, now just make the sleeves longer and add shin gaurds and forearm gaurds and tada cool armor.

Now if you still think Ninja styled armor is a bad idea, you really should reconsider.

You do realize that ninjas ALMOST NEVER wore what we consider "ninja-style" armour, that is to say, the pajama-esque stuff... It would have been far too distinctive! I don't particularly care for what they've got now, though, it's a little over the top with the blades stickout out everywhere.

The ritualists armour is pretty sweet though. Pretty darn sweet. ESPECIALLY the hats, or whatever (I suppose that technically, yes, they are blindfolds).

How can anyone say that GW assassins aren't ninjas and keep a straight face?

I like Nevin's point about the different styles available to warriors, and agree that it would be neat for assassins to have something similar. Actually it would be neat for any class other than warrior to have something similar, come to think of it.

Yeah, that's what I meant. And I was actualy only talking about the female sets (I don't know why I do that) I think that the male zodiacs looks... well, literally gay and the other two are the UFO type heh.

This is a preview weekend. Pre-view Week-end. If anyone in this thread seriously thinks that everything you see this weekend is all there will be in Factions... kill yourself now. Be patient.

Being creative about what might happen is one thing, complaining that what you want isn't in the game RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND is retarded.

If GW had a ninja class, ninja armor would be appropriate. This thread is just more of the "I want a ninja class!" "Ok, we don't get a ninja class, so I want ninja armor!". Get over it already, ffs.

The point of this is that it isnt released yet, so if they see that enouph people want it changed, maybe they will. Besides, saying they arent called ninjas is a pretty jackass reason to say that they shouldn't have any ninja-style armor. You might as well say that the mesmer isn't called a Stripper, so they shouldn't have their lingerei armor.

Plus, the Chapter 2 theme is kinda asiatic, so why not have some traditional baggy ninja gear??? Commander Kuro and General Yurukaro have semi-traditional Samurai outfits, yet they're technically "warriors".... why not the assassin class???
Like I said before... Ninjas are just another version of "Assassin". If Warriors get different themes (i.e. Barbarian, Samurai, Knight, Gladiator, etc..) why can't Assassins? Is there a particular look for an Assassin? Are they supposed to ONLY wear what they wear currently in GW? What's wrong with having a ninja-themed armor option? I know alot of people would want this, and I'm betting that if this option would be available, you'll see alot of assassins wearing this type of armor. Now for the people that think ninjas are "lame", all they have to do is NOT wear the themed armor, and continue to wear the butt hugger pants and S&M style "assassin" armor they're so fond of....

The reason for that is because they're usually wearing yamabushi monk, farmer or peasant style gear, acting as spies or what not. However, if you go to Mie Prefecture in Japan and visit the Ninja Museum you'll find that traditional ninja gear is baggy... Reason for this is that so the enemy cannot predict ninja movement in combat since he can't see the shape of his legs and arms (it sort of "blurrs" movement and makes him unpredictable)...

See link:

Point is, ninjas and assassins are basically the same, so why not have some optional ninja style armor if some people are not diggin the current assassin armor?

A true assassin would be skilled enough so that they don't make noise, and the blades don't look all that shiny to me...
See, if I were an assassin, I'd much rather have something sticking out of my leg so that if I were on the rafters above some guy I could just reach down with my leg and impale him in the face. If the spikes weren't there, I'd have to lower my entire body down and slit his throat. Then I'd have to figure out how to prevent myself from falling, which may be another function of the blades.

The whole assassins are/aren't meant to be ninjas really has nothing to do with how they dress. Elementalists would be considered the wizards of the game, and I'm sure they wouldn't go into battle in skimpy clothing with their breasts falling out.

Personally I think all the new armor looks completely out of place in the game.

I just hope the guild wars makers take notice to threads like these and make drastic changes, if you guys are members of any other GW forums I suggest making threads like these if they do not already exist.

The armor that adds +15vs slashing (Eh, forget its name offhand ;p) Looks a bit out of place. The rest of it, imho, looks great. That being said, Sins seem to be abit fragile, 70 armor seems a tad bit low even if they're not susposed to be tanks.

Have to agree - the assassin armour is horrible. It looks more like an S&M gimp suit than armour, IMO assassins should have a hooded cloak to add to their air of mystery and help them look inconspicuous in a crowd, not bright coloured leathers with blades on them which just advertises their profession (and is hardly feasible when trying to enter places quietly).

Another point as come to my mind.. Although I know its a beta and they don't have all the customizable features in it yet, I'd like to critique them. (After all thats what open betas are for, for the community to respond and set the game makers on the right track)

The hair for assassins, (Some of you might hate me for this), but needs to be a little more anime-ish, don't get me wrong I like the ones there are right now, but if there were say, one with two parted bangs and a bandana like this it'd be awesome.

I really like the ninja headband because a mask alone seems rather plain.. Also NINJAS NEED BLACK FOR A HAIRCOLOR, and maybe a dark blue, or greyish purple. And longer styles of hair WITH bangs (Ponytails, jawlength hair that fans out), bangs are key for a cool looking assassin.. Oh yeah can't forget the scars, theres only one scared face at the moment and its more of an old one. They need younger themed faces with scars and thats all I can think of right now.
